A Gift

A selection from the writings of Wu Hsin, who was an early Taoist. His style of Taoist philosophy clearly contains the seeds of what would become Chan Buddhism in China and Zen in Japan:

These words are:
The transmission of Wu Hsin. Thanks be to Heaven for
Granting their approval.
They transcend time and
Therefore are beyond time.
They will be as valid in
Five thousand years as
They are in this moment.
In the absence of a resonance
They will have no meaning nor
Create any interest.
This resonance cannot be willed into being.
It is either inherent by nature or
It is not.
These words come out from
A place devoid of
Concepts and doubts.
As such, they are not only spontaneous, but
Natural and true.
They are not intended to
Create new concepts,
But, to instead,
Dispel old ones.
The words of Wu Hsin are
Not meant for discussion which only
Distorts and pollutes.
Take them in and
Move on.

The end of questioning is
The same as
The end of seeking.
Further and further explanations
Do not provide
That which is sought.
Additional information
Does not provide
That which is sought.
Drop these activities and
Rest in what is
Prior to all mental activity:
Awareness.

do not interfere

"One of the core themes in Radiant Mind is “natural release”, which refers to the way in which we spontaneously liberate disturbing thoughts and feelings by doing nothing. This way of dissolving our problematic conditions is also called “self liberation”. The key dynamic here is simply to not interfere, to not try to change or manipulate the situation in any way. Rather, we create space around it, letting it play itself out and dissipate on its own.

Natural release works very effectively with our everyday conditioned experiences. As Peter writes in Radiant Mind (p. 78), “Basically, we don’t intervene or meddle in our experience in any way at all; we leave what is, just as it is….When we let things be as they are, contracted emotions and compulsive thoughts often dissipate more quickly than if we meddle and interfere.” It’s really wonderful when our attachments and aversions, together with the suffering they cause, all spontaneously release, leaving us feeling spacious and liberated.

Lately, I have been contemplating an even more wonderful dimension of natural release, what I sometimes think of as the “cosmic” dimension. What I am seeing is that everything, literally everything, in existence follows the course of natural release. Things just show up out of nowhere, stay around for as long as they do, and then dissolve back into nowhere. There is no one “doing” this, no one to manipulate anything. It simply happens of itself – a spontaneous creativity that always takes place now/here, in no-time, with no past and no future.

And it is truly wondrous. Everything spontaneously arises, plays itself out, and then dissipates, or self-liberates, on its own. It’s like a glorious magic show, with us as an integral part of the show. The best part, though, is that we can see through the magic, knowing it as marvelous appearance, and recognize that our true nature is the unconditioned Ground out of which it all arises and into which it naturally releases." Radiance

Words of wisdom... can not be understood through concepts.
"It's a done deal"

"All that is has me - universal creativity, pure and total presence - as it root. How things appear is my being. How things arise is my manifestation. ............................

Because I am unborn reality itself, You are beyond concepts of reality; subtle reality just is. Because there is nowhere to go apart from me, One is beyond paths to traverse."

Longchenpa, You are the Eyes of the World, pp. 32 and 35

"There is no need to practice ... the natural state is not something to be attained; it is the state of affairs all the time....All you need to do is recognize that the state of total completeness is the state of everything right at this moment." A. H. Almaas, Facets of Unity, p. 89

There is nowhere to go; there is nothing to attain; there is only This; you are already It. It's a done deal.

Yet... if one suffers --- there is need to practice... as without practice things do not auto-liberate that easily.
